[ARCHIVED] No matter how long the winter, Spring is sure to follow

SterlingRanch_06142020_141

Spring in Colorado means snow one day, 60-degree sunshine the next. We are all excited to exit our hibernation and watch bulbs sprout, grasses turn green and flowers bloom. Now is the time to start thinking about yard preparations that will help your yard start off healthy and vibrant. Are there empty areas or areas for improvement in your yard that need some loving care? Do your mulch beds need a refresh with a new layer of mulch or a fluff of the existing mulch with a rake?

Spring is a great time to check that your outdoor tools are in good repair. Clean your trimmers with antibacterial spray so you do not inadvertently spread diseases to trees or shrubs. Sharpen any tools that have dulled and put them to good use by pruning dead or damaged branches from trees and shrubs, cutting back perennials, and cleaning out plant beds of debris to prepare for spring planting and growth.

It has been a dry winter and watering is important to the health of young trees and plants. As our temperatures start to warm, make sure to give your plants a drink especially when we have a few over 50-degree days in a row. With the warmer temperatures, flowering bulbs will start to push out of the dirt. Make sure to mound mulch over the leaves to protect them when the temperatures drop - we aren’t out of winter yet!

Spending time outside rejuvenates our spirits. Prepare now so that later you can put your feet up and enjoy your beautiful yard!
