[ARCHIVED] Exterior Lighting in Sterling Ranch

Houses Backyards

There’s something truly magical about being outside at night. You can gaze up and look for constellations, catch a glimpse of a shooting star, or simply take a moment of solitude to contemplate and admire the beauty of the universe. The stars remind all of us to slow down, enjoy the moment, and not stress the small stuff.

Sterling Ranch is a Dark Sky compliant neighborhood committed to lighting standards for outdoor uses that serve to create a safe and comfortable nighttime environment while protecting the public's ability to view the night sky. Per request by the Enforcement Committee and approval by the Board of Directors, all exterior lighting violations and Design Review Committee exterior lighting approvals have been placed on hold during the month of December and January in efforts to educate the community on this important topic. With the completion of our Exterior Lighting education series, staff will continue the enforcement of exterior lighting rules and regulations beginning February 1st.

Keep exterior lighting appropriate by asking yourself these questions:

  • Is that light necessary? Is it brighter than it needs to be?
  • Can I replace the bulb to reduce glare caused to my neighbors?
  • Can I adjust my fixture installation or add a light shield so emanating light is pointed down to the ground?
  • Do I turn my exterior lights off when not in use?

What does it mean if you receive a Courtesy Notice about your exterior lighting?

A Courtesy Notice is a friendly communication letting you know that during a weekly site inspection, a condition on your property was discovered that needs to be remedied to be in compliance with rules and regulations. The notice gives you the opportunity to voluntarily fix the condition before further enforcement action needs to be taken. If you have questions regarding the notice or need information on community guidelines reach out to us via email at info@sterlingranchcab.com and we are more than happy to help.

The goal of Sterling Ranch Community is to establish visually pleasing aesthetics for all residents, protect the beauty of the community and protect the property values of the neighborhood. Thanks for all you do to help!
